FROM THE COMMANDER:   Another year has passed and ushered in a new one.  Best of luck in 2010!  I sure hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.

We are moving right along at the Post.  The garage for the Ritual Team bus is completed; seems like everyone is waiting on me to finish the driveway.  I have to bury a piece of conduit in the ground so  the electricity can be supplied to heat the engine in the winter.  Diesel engines are difficult to start when it is cold and this make things a lot better for our Ritual Team.  We have redone the look in the clubroom with a fresh coat of paint.  Some of the trim has been given a newer look too.  This was accomplished with the help of some very dedicated volunteers.  The crew was led by Janell Kobler (yes, my daughter).  She had a supporting cast of Clayton “Tank” Litton, “Bronco” Bill Deaton, Fred Read, Brent Corzine and Trey Jordan, along with me and an alternate supervisor (with a Class 4 ½ security clearance) Jesse Hines.  Fred Read transferred down here a few months ago and is quite a painter.  Trey Jordan is one of Janell and Clayton’s friends.  Bret Corzine is also their friend and a recent returnee from Afghanistan.  Brent is our newest Life Member and we’re glad he’s home.  We all had fun while doing it, but still glad its over!

I know the weather is rough, but we would like to see your smiling face at the Post and at the meetings.  Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.  House Committee at 6:30 p.m. and Post meeting at 7:30 p.m.  As always, please submit any ideas that might benefit the Post.  We have an e-mail for such suggestions:  vfwpost1301@Hotmail.com.    Ideas will be discussed at Post meetings.  Tim Hartwell is the new Post Adjutant.

Remember we have karaoke on alternate Friday nights at 7:30 p.m.  We will have the big TV on for the Superbowl (February 7, kickoff  5:28 p.m.).  Come out and join us – Potluck dinner (please bring a dish) - $0.25 off all drinks during Superbowl – Raffles!!!!

RITUAL TEAM:  We lost 4 Life members: Robert Doug Goddard, Donald (Duke) Saunders, William Webb, and Robert (Bob) Logan, and a continuous member, Charles Tobin.

The bus shed cost $7,143 and bus was $12,000; we collected $15,885 in donations.  Thank you to everyone that helped us out.  If you are interested in joining the Ritual Team contact Chuck Knapp at 969-4230 or Larry Largent at 983-5515.

LADIES AUXILIARY:    If you have not paid your dues for 2010, your membership has lapsed.  Please try to get them in ASAP.   We appreciate all our members and welcome you to attend Auxiliary meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 6 P M.  Please try to attend these meetings.

MEN’S AUXILIARY:   Membership for 2010 stands at 54 paid; current roster shows 82 members. I encourage you to support our home Post through your membership.  We recently lost Tom Hartwell – he will be greatly missed.  Our condolences to Tom’s family.
