ELECTION OF OFFICERS:    We will be nominating  Post Officers at  the April 14 meeting,  with additional nominations and election of Post Officers at the April 28, 2008 meeting.  Please plan to attend.

 

TRAVELING BUS MUSEUM:   On April 7 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. the Post will be hosting the Traveling Bus Museum sponsored by the Marion Library.  The purpose is to educate the public about WWII through exhibits, videos and presenters on the bus.

A discussion will be held during this time in the VFW Hall from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and is open to the public.  The discussion will be moderated by local author and historian, Harry Boyd.  Veterans, friends and families are encouraged to attend.

 

CANTEEN SALES:   As many of you know and have observed, our canteen sales have really lagged in recent months due to the smoking ban and the economy.  Please visit and support your Post at every opportunity -- thank you.

 

REVENUE GENERATION:  The Post is planning to hold raffles (some “big ticket” items) to boost club revenue……………………………In addition, we plan to start cooking meats for sale monthly -- watch the website and  the bulletin board for dates of cooking .  Better yet, come by the Post to obtain more information -- we’d like to have you visit if you haven’t been in recently!!!

 

YARD SALE -- SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2008 (8:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.) --  Proceeds from the 1-day yard  will all go to support the annual Children’s Christmas Party in December.   The sale will include household items, furniture, tools, toys, books, etc. (NO CLOTHES).  To donate items, please contact Pam Largent at 983-5515 or drop items off at the Post.

 

 

LADIES AUXILIARY:

 

POPPY SALES/POPPY PLATES:   It’s time to start thinking poppies -- the Ladies Auxiliary will start selling Poppy Plates in April with other  poppy sale events to be  scheduled during April-May timeframe.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS:  The Ladies Auxiliary will be nominating and electing officers at the April 10 meeting -- meeting time is 6:00 p.m.   Please plan to attend  -- we need everyone’s support to ensure our Auxiliary remains strong.

 

 

JUNIOR GIRLS:   Members of the Marion Jr. Girls Unit will be attending Conference in Bloomington, Illinois on April 19.  If you know of a young lady between the age of  5 to 16  who would qualify and be interested in joining, please contact Jackie Johnson.
